Four Days in the Land of Abundance

Chengdu wears its reputation well — this is the city of the teahouse and the hot pot, of bamboo-munching pandas and the unhurried rhythm the locals call bashi (巴适, “just right”). In four gentle days, a private guide and car show you the icons — pandas, Dujiangyan, Sichuan opera — without ever rushing, so the youngest and oldest in your group both fall in love.

Day 1: Arrive & Slow Down

Land in Chengdu and feel the pace soften at once. After a private airport pickup and hotel check-in, the evening drifts through the lanterns of Jinli and the creative little shops of the Wide & Narrow Alleys — an easy, atmospheric start.

Day 2: Pandas, Tea & Face-Changing

An early start for the day everyone remembers: the Giant Panda Breeding Base, where before 9am the pandas just woke up, munching bamboo and tumbling about. The afternoon slows to bamboo chairs and covered-bowl tea at the century-old Heming Teahouse in People’s Park — ear-cleaning, a long-spout tea show, then a proper Chinese massage. The evening closes with Sichuan opera: face-changing, fire-breathing and acrobatics from a front-row VIP seat.

Day 3: Red Pandas & Dujiangyan

Drive to Dujiangyan to hand-feed the lively red pandas with apple slices — they are far more energetic than their giant cousins, and the 9:30–10:30am window catches them at their best. Nearby stands the Dujiangyan irrigation system, a 2,000-year-old “ancient tech” still watering the Chengdu plain — the fish-mouth water splitter and Flying Sand Weir make ancient wisdom tangible. Back in the city, a yin-yang hot pot lets the adults brave the spicy broth while the kids enjoy the mild side.

Day 4: Trendy Play & Departure

Choose your finale: the chic Taikoo Li, where the ancient Daci Temple meets luxury boutiques, or East Suburb Memory, an old factory turned creative park of street art and hipster charm. Then a private transfer to the airport — about an hour — sends you home with panda photos and hot-pot memories.
