A Slow Narrative of Growth and Togetherness

When did you last sit and do nothing? On Yunnan’s map, Dali is the special stop — unlike Lijiang, it is quiet, calm and peaceful. Cangshan Mountain stands tall, Erhai Lake stretches wide, and the wind carries the scent of clouds. Doing nothing suddenly feels right. Artists made this place home long ago; bookstores line the lake and Bai houses became beautiful inns. This is a journey without a checklist — only days flowing by between sunrise and sunset.

Day 1: Arrive & Take a Rest

Touch down in Dali and head to your mountain retreat. In the afternoon, the pasture ranch lets kids chase lambs and feed rabbits while the grown-ups sit over tea. At dusk, wander Dali Ancient Town and finish with a sizzling Yunnan copper-pot hotpot, beef and offal bubbling in a spicy, rolling broth.

Day 2: Pagodas, Lake & Fields

Ride the electric cart to the top of Three Pagodas Temple, where the white towers mirror in still pools, then drift along the Erhai Eco Corridor — water on one side, rice fields on the other. Lunch at Yunheyi Estate unfolds the lake at your feet; the afternoon plunges your hands into Xizhou batik indigo. By sunset you’re on Shuanglang’s Yuji Island, dining at Mu Xi Da Li as the waves lap stone and the water turns gold.

Day 3: Up the Mountain, Foraging & Tea

At the Sijichun Tea Garden, pick leaves with your own hands and press them into a tea cake stamped with the date. Then on to Jizhao An, a nunnery that grows flowers instead of burning incense, its courtyard brimming with succulents. The Gantong cable car lifts you onto the pine-needled Jade Belt Road for a two-hour stroll with Erhai in view, before Fengjian Restaurant closes the day with Dali’s finest fine dining.

Day 4: A Farewell, Two Choices

Choose your morning: a Luge cart racing down the mountainside, wind in your sleeves, or the North Gate Market for straw bags and flower cakes followed by plant printing in the garden. Whatever you pick, a warm bowl of ancient-town rice noodles sends you off to the airport — carrying the mountains, the clouds, and a stretch of slow, shared time.

What’s Included

A private car and English-speaking guide for all four days, three nights at a mountain retreat hotel, every hands-on experience from tea picking to batik dyeing, the Cangshan cable car and light hike, daily scenic meals and two lunches, and all transfers including airport pickup and drop-off. Every detail is handled, so all that’s left is to watch the days flow by.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the pace suitable for children and elderly?

Very much so. The days are deliberately slow with private transfers throughout, no rushed sightseeing, and hands-on moments — lambs, tea and dyeing — that everyone enjoys together.

Do we need to be fit for the Cangshan hike?

No. It is a gentle walk along the pine-needled Jade Belt Road for about two hours after the cable car, with the car never far away. It can be shortened on request.

Which hotel do we stay in?

You may choose between Dali Yiyun Hotel, a quiet Bai-style retreat, or The EDITION Dali, a design sanctuary — both at the foot of Cangshan and family-friendly.

Can the itinerary be customized?

Absolutely. The Day 4 options are interchangeable, and experiences like a boat cruise on Erhai or a tie-dye workshop in Zhoucheng can be added — just let us know.
