🎨

Hands-On Family Fun

Clay mural painting, solar crafts, dune sledding, desert banquets and a Yangguan "ancient passport" — kids learn by doing.

A Thousand Years, Six Days, One Heart

Dunhuang is the Silk Road’s gateway — a world of deserts and stars where 735 caves and millennia of murals survive against the sand. In six unhurried days, a private guide and car take your family from the roar of the modern city to the silence of the dunes, sealing every wonder with a child’s hands-on delight, and every night with a pool villa under the desert sky.

Day 1: First Impressions

Land at Dunhuang Mogao International Airport and let a private car carry you into the oasis. Browse the Dunhuang Bookstore’s Silk Road picture books with the kids, then graze the Shazhou Night Market — apricot juice, donkey-meat noodles, lamb stew — where Dunhuang’s flavors begin.

Day 2: Ancient Art & Desert Fun

The Dunhuang Museum unfolds its treasures through a top guide’s storytelling, then a mural-painting workshop puts real Dunhuang clay in your hands. At the golden hour, ride camels over the Singing Sand Dunes beside Crescent Lake, cooler and calmer than the midday sun.

Day 3: Future Tech & Desert Feast

Stand beneath the Solar Expo Park’s tower plant, where thousands of mirrors chase the sun, and build your own solar craft. At dusk, a desert banquet unfolds in silk tents — kids sand-sled into the sunset, adults toast the coming stars.

Day 4: Thousand-Year Mogao

Two 8K dome films at the Digital Center set the stage, then expert guides lead you through Mogao’s grottoes — including special caves closed to ordinary visitors. As night falls, Wang Chaoge’s Encore Dunhuang walking show lets you live the millennium rather than merely watch it.

Day 5: The Open Desert

Choose your grandeur: the West Route to earn an “ancient passport” at Yangguan and jeep into Yadan Devil City’s wind-carved pillars — or the East Route to the sleeping Earth Baby of Guazhou and the quiet, beautifully preserved Yulin Caves.

Day 6: A Relaxed Farewell

Sleep in, float in the pool, or linger in the quiet art of Dunhuang Wujie, then a private transfer to the airport. Six days and five nights — just enough to carry Dunhuang in your heart.

What’s Included

A private car and English-speaking guide for six days; Mogao Caves, special caves and Digital Center tickets; the mural workshop; the Solar Expo craft; VIP seats at Encore Dunhuang; five nights at a top desert hotel with breakfast for two; and every transfer from arrival to departure. The bookings, the queues and the heat-wise planning are all ours — so your only job is to fall in love with the desert.

Pricing

Price available on request — including suite and pool-villa upgrades at Biyue, Dongyi or Wanda Vista.

Deep in the desert, the wind cannot bury time. Six days and five nights — Dunhuang, once seen, never leaves you.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is the best time to visit Dunhuang?

May to October is the main season; September and October offer mild weather and the clearest skies for stargazing. Our schedule deliberately avoids the 12:00–16:00 midday heat.

Are the special caves worth it with kids?

Yes — expert guides make the stories vivid, and the special caves show the best-preserved, highest-value murals that regular visitors never see.

Is it suitable for young children and elderly?

Absolutely. The pace is relaxed and heat-smart, with private transfers throughout and evening desert activities at the coolest hours.

Can we choose between the Day 5 routes?

Yes — pick the West Route (Yangguan + Yadan) for desert grandeur, or the East Route (Guazhou + Yulin Caves) for quieter, better-preserved grottoes.
