Step Into the Frontier of Chinese Innovation
From Alibaba’s internet empire to the “Six Little Dragons” of AI, robotics and brain-computer interfaces, Hangzhou is where China’s most advanced technology actually happens. In five days we take students straight into the labs and factory floors — watch a robot backflip, move a bionic hand with pure thought, and see a brand-new car roll off the line every 60 seconds, before slowing down on West Lake. What you see with your own eyes beats any textbook or video.
Day 1: Internet Culture · Alibaba Xixi
Land in Hangzhou and head straight to the Alibaba Xixi Campus, the company’s global headquarters. Pose at the “Little Entrepreneurs” meeting point and wander the culture wall, where the year-ring tradition of “one-year fragrance, three-year brew, five-year depth” lives alongside wuxia spirit. In the afternoon a senior Alibaba lecturer hosts an AI large-model class, demoing the digital tools its people use every day and unlocking the logic behind AIGC; after the short film Tang Xiaoju’s Time Travel, a hands-on Luban lock challenge teaches teamwork the Alibaba way.
Day 2: Brain-Computer Interfaces · Robotics
The morning takes you to BrainCo, the Harvard-incubated leader in non-invasive brain-computer interfaces. In the smart-prosthesis lab, watch “mind control” set every finger of a bionic hand dancing, explore BCI in the immersive VR zone, and hear an expert trace the field from its origins to tomorrow’s industries. The afternoon moves to Unitree Robotics, tracing the robot-dog journey from Laikago to the industrial B2, driving a Go2 yourself, then gasping at the humanoids — the H1 backflipping and G1 performing tai chi.
Day 3: Quadruped Robots · Smart Factory
The morning belongs to DEEP Robotics, where the “Jueying” robot dogs climb slopes, wade water and dodge obstacles, springing up after a fall. Real case studies show how they brave the dangers of power-grid inspection and fire reconnaissance. The afternoon heads to the Geely Smart Factory — ride through a 4.0 workshop where giant robot arms weld in showers of sparks, then enjoy an AI class, a robot-dog challenge and hands-on model assembly that earns kids a “Geely Junior Engineer” certificate.
Day 4: Future Hotel · West Lake & Lingyin
Start the day at Alibaba’s FlyZoo Future Hotel — check in with just your face, watch the elevator light your floor automatically, open touch-free doors, let Tmall Genie run the whole room and a robot butler deliver your orders. Then switch gears entirely: a West Lake cruise and the incense of Lingyin Temple reveal the other Hangzhou — half hardcore technology, half timeless poetry.
Day 5: Southern Song Culture · Reflection
On the final day, step along the Southern Song Imperial Street and back into 12th-century Lin’an; then a guided session turns five days of tech encounters into insight you can take home. A private transfer to the station or airport sends you off with a head full of the future — technology has warmth, and the future is tangible.
